So, you’re interested in becoming a nurse. Good for you! Let’s take a look at some guidelines to follow in order for you to make your dream a reality.
Once you know which discipline you are most interested in, you will need to obtain a qualification in that field.
You can obtain any of the following levels of qualification:
- Higher Certificate
- Diploma
- Advanced Diploma
- Bachelor’s Degree
Prospective applicants are required to have completed their National Senior Certificate or must possess an equivalent qualification at NQF level 4 in order to access these higher education training programmes.
There is also an opportunity for individuals who already have practical experience in the nursing field to obtain a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
An application must be submitted according to the RPL policy of the Nursing Education Institution for individual assessment. The credits received from this assessment can be used to access qualification or credit bearing exemptions.
You can complete your training at a registered institution.
