Columbus Stainless Bursary Progam 2021-2022
For the Academic Year 2021-2022, Columbus Steel offers bursaries to students currently pursuing studies in the following:
- National Diploma in Process Instrumentation for those who will start 2nd year in the year 2021
- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering for those who will start 2nd year in the year 2021
- BSc or BEng in Material Sciences or Physical Metallurgy for those who will start 3rd year in the year 2021
- Physical Metallurgy, BEng in Material Science, or BSc in Chemical Engineering for those who will start 4th year in the year 2021
Students who qualify for the bursaries will receive financial assistance to cover the cost of their studies. They will also get the chance to increase their knowledge through the in-house training program after they graduate.
Those who qualify will get notified. For applicants who don’t receive any feedback within two weeks after the closing date of the bursary, it means that the application wasn’t successful.
Columbus Stainless Bursaries Requirements and Eligibility
Before applying, interested students must satisfy the following requirements:
- Must be a citizen of South Africa
- Must have completed Matric
- Must study towards one of the qualifications mentioned above
- For students applying for a National Diploma in Process Instrumentation, must have completed their 1st year so they can start their 2nd year of study in the year 2021
- For students applying for a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, must have completed their 1st year so they can start their 2nd year of study in the year 2021
- For students applying for a BSc or BEng in Material Sciences or Physical Metallurgy, must have completed their 2nd year so they can start their 3rd year of study in the year 2021
- For students applying for a BEng in Physical Metallurgy, BSc in Material Science, or Chemical Engineering, must have completed their 3rd year so they can start their 4th year of study in the year 2021
- Must study at one of the recognised tertiary institutions in South Africa
- Must have achieved at least a 60% overall average for their previous year of study
Failure to satisfy any of these requirements will lead to the application getting disregarded.

Together with the accomplished application form, the applicant must also submit the following documents.
- A certified copy of an ID document
- A certified copy of the Matric certificate
- A complete tertiary academic record on the letterhead of the institute
- Proof of tertiary registration for the year 2021 on the letterhead of the institute
These are compulsory requirements. Failure to submit all of these documents will lead to the application getting disregarded.
