ABOUT DALRRD BURSARY
The Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Bursary are offered by the South African Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD).
The development in the DALRRD sector is important and so the DALRRD offers a variety of areas that people can specialize in and, as a result, the Agriculture, Land Reform, and Rural Development Bursary is aimed at developing and enabling students intending to further their studies in identified careers in these sectors.
Several programs are run by the DALRRD for the development of people, particularly those from previously disadvantaged and rural areas who need investment in their skills. They invest their resources to build and develop future leaders in the industry.
There are two different bursaries available: one for Undergraduate Studies and one for Postgraduate studies.

Who Can Apply?
The Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Bursaries are open to students who wish to pursue / currently are studying the following areas and sectors for their future career: agriculture, land reform and rural development. The bursaries are aimed at students from previously disadvantaged as well as impoverished persons from poverty-stricken and rural communities. They are also placing an emphasis on people with disabilities to apply.
Requirements
There are different requirements for each of the Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Bursaries as one is for an undergraduate degree, and the other is for a postgraduate.
Undergraduate Degrees: There are many fields of studies within the B.Sc. degree option. Please refer to the Bursary Awards Advert for the various ones by following this link – Bursary Awards Advert.
Please Note:
- Each degree requires you to have completed Mathematics and Physical Science as subjects for your National Senior Certificate.
- Marks achieved do vary for each degree (for example: Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc.) requires Mathematics and Physical Science: 6 (70–79%) and B.Sc. Animal Science requires Mathematics and Physical Science: 5 (60-69%)).
Postgraduate studies:
- Adv Dip/B.Tech
- B.Sc. Hons
- M.Sc.
- D.Tech.
- Ph.D.
ONLY AGRICULTURAL FIELDS of studies priority research projects.
Additional requirements for both the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees:
- South African citizen
- No late application forms will be accepted
- Only applications for the identified fields will be accepted

For successful applicants, you will receive the following during your studies:
