NSFAS Application Requirements for Eastcape Midlands TVET College Applicants

The following documents are required from NSFAS Applicants during application;

  • 4 Certified copies of student ID
  • 2 Certified copies of parent’s / guardian’s ID or death certificates
  • 1 Certified copy of ID/ Birth Certificate for each dependent in the house
  • 1 Certified copy of the parent’s / guardian’s latest payslip, grant slip, or affidavit as proof of income
  • 1 Certified copy of the highest qualification
  • 1 Proof of residence
  • Application or motivational letter written by an applicant applying for a bursary

The Department of Higher Education and Training TVET Colleges Bursary Scheme has been established by the Department of Higher Education and Training to assist students who have the potential to succeed at NC(V) and Report 191 programme, but would not be able to do so without financial aid.

What Student Qualifies for NSFAS Funding at Eastcape Midlands TVET College

You qualify for an NSFAS bursary if you are a South African citizen who plans to study in Eastcape TVET College or you are already studying at a public university or TVET college and you meet the following requirements:

  • A student must be registered or intending to register on a PLP, NC(V) or Report 191 programme at any of the fifty (50) public TVET Colleges in South Africa;
  • Only South African citizens are eligible for this bursary scheme;
  • Must need financial assistance (NSFAS will determine whether or not a student meets the financial eligibility criteria);
  • Returning students must demonstrate proven and accepted academic performance (academically deserving) in line with the College’s progression policy or the progression prescriptions of the Bursary Rules and Guidelines (whichever is higher);
  • Must not be enrolling for a qualification that duplicates previous learning that was state-funded; and
  • Applicants will qualify if they fall within the maximum threshold of up to R350,000 of combined gross family income per annum and are admitted/received a firm offer for enrolment in a College.

What Does NSFAS Bursary Cover at Eastcape Midlands TVET College

At Eastcape Midlands TVET College, NSFAS covers student’s expenses like tuition fees, allowances for learning materials, and, in some cases, accommodation and transport costs.

How to Update Your Cellphone Number on NSFAS

Students who wish to change their contact details for the NSFAS Application can do so by following the guidelines below:

  • Login to my.nsfas.org.za
  • On the already registered tap (Enter your username and Password Click on sign in button)
  • Click on my details
  • Go to the cellphone number section
  • Delete and remove and type in the new cellphone number
  • Click on Update details
  • OTP will be sent to your new number
  • Enter OTP and submit

The number is successfully changed (if a duplicate number exists student will get an error message).

Students who are unable to change their details online can use the manual process by emailing a certified copy of their green barcoded ID or smart card, and a completed affidavit specifying that they have changed their cell phone number; with the new and old numbers listed to [email protected].

NSFAS Wallet

The NSFAS Wallet is where NSFAS allowances are located for students.

Students receive allowance directly from NSFAS to withdraw or spend at any trader that’s partnered with the organization.
