How to Choose Modules at UNISA When Registering for the 2024–25 Academic Year: Undergraduate and Honors Qualifications. How to Choose Modules at Unisa

Choosing a module is one of the processes applicants must undergo during registration to be offered admission into the institution.

UNISA Qualifications

Each Unisa qualification is structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of NQF-level credits within a certain amount of time to graduate. To choose a module at UNISA, you have to get a pass.

It is also very important that you manage your studies and pass the number of NQF-level credits for which you register each semester or year. Please take note of Unisa’s admission and re-admission rules and the Unisa rules for students.

How to Choose Modules at Unisa

Qualifications require a certain number of credits, broken down into smaller units. At Unisa, undergraduate modules are usually 12 credits. Each module is pegged according to a specific NQF level. A bachelor’s degree of 360 credits, for example, consists of 30 modules of 12 credits each.

A bachelor’s degree may consist of

  • between 8 and 10 modules of 12 credits each at NQF level 5
  • between 10 and 12 modules of 12 credits each at NQF level 6
  • 10 modules of 12 credits each at NQF level 7
  • an additional 10 modules of 12 credits each at NQF level 7 or 8 for 4-year qualifications

These levels follow on from one another. When choosing a module, you must first have passed the module at the lower level. Before you can be awarded a qualification, you must have completed the required number of credits. The modules must be completed at the required NQF level.
