About Kabale University -KAB
Kabale University is located on Plot 364 Block 3 Kikungiri Hill, in Kabale Municipality, about a kilometre off Kabale-Katuna-Kigali Highway. The Main Campus sits on 50 acres of land. The University can be accessed via Mukombe Road, which connects the Kikungiri Campus to the Highway. An additional Campus is located on Plots 66-76 in Nyabikoni Parish in the Central Division of Kabale Municipality.
The University was established as a not-for-profit community institution, owned by the people of Kigezi. The University opened its gates in 2002 to forty-two (42) students and presently has an enrolment of over 4360: coming from all parts of Uganda, and the neighbouring countries of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo (DRC), and South Sudan.
Kabale University -KAB Faculties
We are one of the largest research universities in Africa, with seven highly regarded faculties that span the knowledge spectrum from classic academic fields to rapidly evolving new fields of study. We are home to Uganda’s best science school, Uganda’s best Faculty of Medicine, Law, and the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment.
Our programmes are locally and globally relevant. KAB endeavours to create an environment that enables all students to maximise their own intellectual potential in their chosen field of study by providing a solid teaching and learning foundation that will lead our graduates to greater success in their careers, or light the spark of curiosity and discovery through further postgraduate specialisation and research.
