It is usually awarded to enable a student to attend school, university, or college when they might not be able to, otherwise. Some awards are aimed at encouraging specific groups or individuals into the study.

NMISA Bursary Progam 2021-2022

The NMISA bursary is ideal for talented young Africans seeking to become technologists, engineers, or scientists. They look for mature, quality conscious driven individuals with a passion for their field to be part of their bursary program.

NMISA stands for the National Metrology Institute of South Africa. The history of this company goes back to when it started in 1947. This company is accountable for upholding, developing, and maintaining the primary scientific standards of South Africa and ensuring all is measuring up to global standards.

They offer collaboration, testing, and measurement services. Training and consultation services, problem-solving along with implementation in the metrology field. They also fund 16 research projects including energy, food, Nanometrology, and environmental.

What Does The NMISA Bursary Cover?

NMISA covers the basic fees and registration costs.

Students studying with a bursary from NMISA will also be able to work at the company during school holidays and gain valuable experience in their field.

Requirements for the NMISA Bursary

NMISA offers its bursary program to candidates who are in financial need and it is based on academic merit. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged candidates who meet the requirements and who will add to the cultural and gender diversity of the organization.

To study for a degree in one of the fields mentioned, you will need to:

  • Be a South African Citizen
  • Studying into the direction of the study fields for Undergraduate or Postgraduate
  • Certified copies of your Academic Qualifications
  • Your Full CV
  • You have to write a motivational letter why you think you are the best candidate for their opening ( try to write a letter that shows why they should want you and not why you need them)

How to Apply for NMISA Bursaries?

The NMISA Bursary Online Application Form

You have to apply online. The application form can be found under the Opportunities Tab by selecting Internships & Bursaries. You will also have to complete the questionnaire supplied in full.

Only suitable candidates who meet all requirements will be considered. Please include your latest school results, certified copy of your ID, motivation letter, and fully completed application along with all other documentation.

Applications missing any documentation will not be considered, as well as late or incomplete applications. Selected candidates will also be asked to work 1-year after completion of their education at NMISA for every year of study.

NMISA Bursary Closing Date

The closing date is 31 July 2020. The bursaries available for students interested in these directions are very limited. Indicate why you should be eligible for a bursary and what your interests are in the selected field.

The NMISA Human Capital Development programme, which this Master’s Studentship forms part of, is focused on recruiting the following candidates in order of preference: African, Coloured & Indian.
