NSFAS Application Requirements

Are you a student willing to Apply to NSFAS for funding to study in the university of your choice? I am pleased to announce to you that the National Student Financial Aid Scheme -NSFAS is opening its application season for learners and out-of-school youth from poor and working-class backgrounds to apply for funding to study at public universities and TVET colleges in the country.

NSFAS Required Documents

The supporting Documents required from National Student Financial Aid Scheme applicants are;

• Valid South African ID Number of Applicant
• Valid South African ID Number of Parent(s), guardian or spouse
• Income information where applicable

NSFAS Application Requirements for Students with Disabilities

The Application requirements required from Students with Disabilities are;

• A completed and signed Disability Annexure A form

NSFAS Supporting documents for Students with no family member

If you indicated that you are a student with no family members, make sure you complete the 2024 Declaration form. ( Available on the website)

Other Documents that may be required, if applicable are;

• Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian, or spouse;
• Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided;
• Proof of income
• Retirement letter
• Death Certificates
• Divorce decree
• Proof of legal guardianship
• Marriage certificate

Student qualify to get NSFAS funding if you are a South African citizen or permanent resident who plans on registering or already studying at a public university or TVET college in South Africa and they will fall within one or more of the below categories:

• SASSA grant recipients (the SASSA COVID-19 grant does not count);
• Persons whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per year;

NSFAS Application Closing Date for 2024

It is recommended that applicants do should not wait for the last minute before applying.

NSFAS Application Closes on the 31st of January, 2024
