SANC eRegister login
eRegister is published in Section 35 of the Nursing Act, 2005 as a copy of the active records in the official register of the South African Nursing Council.
It is primarily intended for employers or prospective employers who need to verify an employee’s or prospective employee’s registration status. Practitioners may also use eRegister to confirm their registration status.
SANC eRegister Login
eRegister has been designed to be as simple to use as possible. If you read the instructions on each screen and follow them, you should not have any difficulty.
Take a moment to read through the Help page before getting started, as it contains additional information to assist you. Please read all note boxes carefully; they contain important information about the information displayed using eRegister.
To start your SANC electronic registration, simply follow the steps below:
STEP 1:
Go to SANC official web page: www.sanc.co.za
STEP 2:
On the menu bar, hover on ‘Registered Nurses & Midwives’ and click on eRegister
STEP 3:
On the South African Nursing Council Electronic Register of Nurses and Midwives portal, select this statement: “Click here to start the eRegister system.”
STEP 4:
To use the eRegister Portal, users must READ AND ACCEPT THE CONDITIONS, By clicking “I Accept the Conditions of Use,” you have agreed to all protocols enlisted.
STEP 5:
According to the page, enter the SANC number or SA identity number and ‘Find’. (Please enter the South African Identity Number without any spaces.)
What do I need to use eRegister?
eRegister is a free-to-use application available to any Internet user. You will need a computer (or other device) with a connection to the Internet.
Your computer or device must have a suitable web browser program, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc. Most computers and devices that meet these requirements should be able to access eRegister without further adjustment.

How to Register with SANC
- On your browser, type SANC in the search bar.
- Open SANC-Regulating Nursing on a new tab.
- Find the eRegister option on your left side under Quick Links, and open it in a new tab.
- Click eRegister (it’s in red) on the page to go to the official eRegister system.
- After reading and understanding them, click the “I Accept the Conditions of Use” option.
- Proceed by entering your SANC Number OR SA Identity Number in the empty box.
- Press “Find”, and your records will be displayed if you are registered as a nurse or midwife.
Can’t use the eRegister? What to do
If you still have any difficulty using eRegister, please take careful note of any error message shown. If the error message does not help, take a moment or two to read the Help page and also the Frequently Asked Questions to see if you can solve the problem. You must supply the following information when reporting a problem:
- Computer Operating System (e.g. Windows 10 Professional)
- Browser name and version (e.g. Internet Explorer 10.0)
- Full description of the problem
TIP: If you have been using eRegister and stop using it for some time, it will time out your session.
When you try to continue, you will be taken back to the Conditions of Use page, and you will have to start over. This is a normal operation and does not mean that the system has a problem.
