UCT Tuition Fee
Students at UCT pay tuition fees for every course taken. These tuition fees vary from course to course and cover:
- registration
- all charges for classes, tutorials and laboratories
- ordinary university examinations
- library access
- compulsory personal accident insurance
- the use of general sporting facilities
- in the case of medical students, hospital fees for clinical instruction.
Tuition fees do not cover membership to clubs or societies.
University of Cape Town Fees 2025
Student fees paid at UCT are broken down as follows:
1. UCT Acceptance Fee:
These are fees paid by applicants who are offered a place on one of the following programmes offered by the Graduate School of Business,
Acceptance deposits are not payable for any other programmes at UCT
They are non-refundable and will be credited to your student-fee account. Remember to quote your new student number when making this payment.
The acceptance fees are currently:
Master of Business Administration: South African/African applicants | R15 000 |
Master of Business Administration: International applicants | R30 000 |
Executive Master of Business Administration: South African/African applicants | R15 000 |
Executive Master of Business Administration: International applicants |
2. Accommodation fees
These includes catering residences, and the meal costs too
3. Miscellaneous fees and levies
This include Various charges such as society subscriptions, library fines, traffic fines, student health charges, residence damage costs and emergency loans may be debited to a student’s fees account if they were not settled in the course of the year.
4. Interest
The university charges monthly interest on outstanding balances at 1%. Given that the final fee payment is due on 30 June, interest is charged on 31 July and at the end of each succeeding month
University of Cape Town Fees for South African citizens and South African permanent residents
An initial payment of fees (for tuition and residence) is due by Friday 07 February 2025. If payment is not received on or before the due date, a one-off late payment fee of 5% of the unpaid amount will be charged.
You will be allowed to register if the initial payment has not been received by the due date.
Final payment is due 31 July 2025.
University of Cape Town Fees For International Students
Every student is charged a fee for each year of study at UCT.
As an international student, you will need to know how much to pay and when payments are due. You need to pay your fees by the published deadlines or you may not be able to continue your studies at UCT.
How much you need to pay depends on your fee status and on your programme of study.
UCT Fee Status and How to Change UCT Fee Status
based on your citizenship or residence at the time of application
Your fee status is determined when you apply and is based on the documents you present showing your country of citizenship or permanent residence.
To change your fee status, you must bring original documents proving your alternative citizenship or residency to the International Office before 31 July.
Citizenship or residency status changes presented after this date will only apply to your fee status for the following academic year.

How to Pay UCT Fees Online
Notes: Bursars can request pro-forma fees invoices once a copy of the bursary award letter has been forwarded to the Fees Office.
The Institute reserves the right to change fees without prior notice. However, fee changes are subject to approval by the Governing Council and we will update it ASAP.
Fees and payment requirements differ for local and international students.
A further distinction is made between international students from the SADC region, international students from elsewhere in Africa, and international students from outside Africa.
The following information does not apply to students registering at the Graduate School of Business (GSB) in 2025. The GSB initial payments and deadlines will be published in the 2025 Student Fees Handbook which will be available towards the end of 2024
