Want to apply for Bursaries in South Africa 2021? The Vodacom invites an application from suitably and qualifies students for their bursary program 2021-2022.

bursary is a monetary award made by any educational institution or funding authority to individuals or groups.

It is usually awarded to enable a student to attend school, university, or college when they might not be able to, otherwise. Some awards are aimed at encouraging specific groups or individuals into the study.

Vodacom Bursary Progam 2021-2022

Vodacom is the largest cellular network provider in South Africa. Each year the Vodacom bursary provides students a way to fund their ICT related or Engineering study. Since Vodacom started providing bursaries in 1999, they provided more than 1000 bursaries to South African students.

There is a widely known shortage of skills within the ICT markets in South Africa.  Vodacom is completely committed to aiding qualifying candidates in filling these positions.  To achieve this goal they are offering 50 bursaries per year to successful candidates, within the required fields where a shortage is seen.

What Vodacom Bursaries Are Available?

If you are planning to study into one of the following directions, as indicated, these bursaries are just what you need.

Information Technology Bursaries

  • Information Systems
  • BSc Computer Engineering
  • BSc Computer Science
  • Degrees and Diplomas from the University of Technology within similar fields.

Engineering Bursaries

  • Electronic Engineering – light current
  • Electrical Engineering – light current
  • Degrees and Diplomas from the University of Technology within similar fields.

What Are the Requirements?

If you would like to apply for a bursary from Vodacom, candidates must provide and meet the following requirements.

  • Candidates must be a South African citizen and possess a South African ID
  • Candidates must live in South Africa
  • Candidates must pass their Grade 12 with exemption
  • Candidates who are younger than 25, may apply
  • Candidates are required to obtain a C symbol in Mathematics – Higher Grade
  • Candidates are required to obtain a C symbol in Science – Higher Grade
  • The total household income of candidates may not exceed R150 000 per year, to be eligible
  • Candidates will be required to take full-time undergraduate studies, at one of the South African accredited Tertiary Institutes
  • Candidates who are within their first year of study at such Institutes may also apply, only if they meet all other criteria as mentioned above

Candidates are also urged to answer the following questions, and include it with their application:

  • Did I achieve the required minimum academic results?
  • Is this field of study truly the right one for me?
  • Am I South African born, thus a South African citizen?
  • Is this application form the right one, for the bursary I am applying for?

If your answer is not YES to all these questions, please re-consider and rather not apply.

Preference will be given to South African individuals from a previously disadvantaged background.

Vodacom also offers extensive learner-ship programs in addition to internships.  These are within the field of Information Communication Technology, along with a variety of Business Management aspects.

Vodacom Bursaries Closing Date

The Yearly opening date is the 1st of March and closing for applications is usually the 30th of June.

Candidates who have not had any feedback on their application, by the 30th of November the same year can take it as being unsuccessful.

Only candidates who make the long list will be contacted and asked for an initial interview.  If you do not receive such an invitation, please know that your application was not successful.
