Key responsibilities
  • Updating Quality reports
  • Evaluating batches during initial processing, sensory and analytical testing
  • Raising Notifications for failing blends
  • Communication with Operators on In-process adjustments and offloading of batches
  • Issue out rework instructions and updating system
  • Updating system on tests when a batch is off loaded
  • Analytical analysis for After-Packing samples
  • Approval of chemicals, top notes and after-packing samples after hours, when required by production
  • Approval of HVP, Maillard and liquids (pH and moisture)
  • Completion of night shift X–Ray verification tasks
  • Sensory Evaluation for after-packing batches
  • Conducting Allergen testing
  • Completion of QC on-line checks
  • Good housekeeping & Good lab practices
  • Support internal audit
  • Preparation of reagents and solvents
  • Internal calibration and verification of lab equipment

Qualifications and skills
  • Matric with completed Diploma or Degree in Food Technology, Biotechnology or Analytical Chemistry.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a QC Analyst, preferably within a Food Manufacturing Environment.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP & GMP.
  • Technically savvy in essential computer software (e.g. MS Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Internal Audit Experience will be added advantage
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
