The Department of Higher Education and Training TVET Colleges Bursary Scheme has been established by the Department of Higher Education and Training to assist students who have the potential to succeed at NC(V) and Report 191 programme, but would not be able to do so without financial aid.
Who qualifies for the Bursary?
You qualify for a NSFAS bursary if you are a South African citizen who plans to study in 2023 or you are already studying at a public university or TVET college and you meet the following requirements:
- SASSA recipients automatically qualify on financial eligibility
- Your combined household income is not more than R350 000 per year or
- Person with a disability with a combined household income of not more than R600 000 per year or
- Must have email and cell phone number

NSFAS Wallet
The NSFAS Wallet is where NSFAS allowances are located for students. Students receive allowances directly from NSFAS to withdraw or spend at any trader that’s partnered with the organization.

The following documents are required from NSFAS Applicants 2023.
- 4 Certified copies of student ID
- 2 Certified copies of parent’s / guardian’s ID or death certificates
- 1 Certified copy of ID/ Birth Certificate for each dependent in the house
- 1 Certified copy of parent’s / guardian’s latest payslip, grant slip or affidavit as proof of income
- 1 Certified copy of highest qualification
- 1 Proof of residence
- Application or motivational letter written by an applicant applying for a bursary
